Berkeley is fifteen minutes up Telegraph, College or Shattuck from our Oakland base, and we are there most weeks. It is a city that cares what goes down the storm drain, so do we. We use pH-neutral, biodegradable, eco-friendly chemistry, a two-bucket wash that uses a fraction of the water of a hose wash, and we capture runoff where we can. One of the only detailers in the Bay Area working this way.
Berkeley cars have a specific set of problems: tree sap and pollen from the street trees in Elmwood, Claremont and North Berkeley that etch clear coat in a sunny week; fog and salt from the Marina side; brake dust from the 80/580 maze; and the fact that most of them live on the street. Most Berkeley customers do not have a driveway, and that is fine. We need a legal spot with enough clearance to open the doors and walk around the car, a residential permit block is okay if you are the permit holder, and we schedule around street-sweeping days. For apartment garages near campus and Downtown, we work in the stall as long as there is room; ventilation matters for steam and coatings, so we will ask about it when you book. Send a photo of the spot if you are unsure; worst case we detail a block away and bring it back.
Berkeley's canopy, liquidambar, elm, redwood, the big oaks in Claremont and the Hills. Drops sap, pollen and tannin-heavy leaves that bond to paint and etch in direct sun. A wash does not remove bonded sap; clay does. The sealant in our Clay & Seal exterior keeps the next three months of drop from bonding, and a ceramic coating turns it into a rinse-off problem for ~3 years. Paint already showing swirls from tunnel washes on University or San Pablo? Paint correction first, then protect it.
We use biodegradable, pH-balanced products for paint, fabric, leather and plastics; a two-bucket method that uses a few gallons rather than a running hose; and waterless or rinseless methods where appropriate for light maintenance washes. It is better for the car (no harsh alkalines stripping your trim and sealant), better for your household, and better for the Bay. Ask us anything about what we are using, we are happy to show you.

We use biodegradable, pH-neutral products and a low-water two-bucket method, and we keep runoff minimal. For light maintenance washes we can do rinseless. No harsh degreasers or acid wheel cleaners go on the ground.
Yes. Bonded sap and pollen come off with our clay bar and solvent-safe pre-treatment in the Clay & Seal exterior detail. If sap has etched the clear coat, paint correction polishes the etching out.
Yes, as long as the garage allows it and there is room in the stall. Steam and ozone need ventilation; coatings need shade and a dry day, we will confirm the spot works when you book.
